Exhibtion "Copley" February 18 - June 10, 2012 at the Frieder Burda Museum

The extensive Copley retrospective presents more than eighty works by the American artist. A major share of the works on display stems from his estate, and many of them are being shown publicly for the first time. The comprehensive body of Copley’s work in the Frieder Burda. Collection will also be shown for the first time in its entirety in the exhibition.

As a gallery owner, artist, author, and publisher, since the mid-1940s William N. Copley (1919–1996) is an important mediator between the Surrealists and the Pop Art movement and is one of the most unconventional personalities in the art scene.
